What is More Than Miles™?
A 12-week women's gravel cycling pilot cohort based in Shawnee, Kansas, run in partnership with Trek Bicycle Shawnee. It's an on-ramp into gravel cycling that emphasizes safety, skills, and belonging — not racing.
Who is it for?
Women who want to try gravel cycling in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Total beginners are welcome. You do not need to be fast, fit, or experienced.
Where do you ride?
Rides depart from Trek Bicycle Shawnee (10412 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, Shawnee, KS 66203) and explore gravel routes around the Kansas City metro.
Who coaches the program?
Amanda Duling — USA Cycling Level 3 Certified Coach, Founder of More Than Miles and One Gear Short of Normal, and #1 New Release author. Roger Williams — USA Cycling Level 3 Certified Coach and owner of Gravelleurs Coaching LLC. Program leadership maintains current American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
Do I need a gravel bike?
No. Any bike that can fit a wider tire will work for most rides. Trek Bicycle Shawnee is the program's home base for technical support — they'll help you sort out what you have. There is no pressure to buy anything.
Is this a race team?
No. This is not a race team and not a suffer-to-belong program. Community before competition is a real promise, not a slogan.
What's included in the pilot cohort?
12 weeks of coached group rides, bike-handling and mechanical clinics at Trek Bicycle Shawnee, a private community space, and safety-certified leadership on every ride.
